BURKETT :
Resplendent Light

The
Camera Obscura Gallery is pleased to present its fifth exhibition of
spectacular color landscape photographs by Christopher Burkett. Featuring
recent work and images never before printed from his vast archive of
color transparencies, the show will debut several new pieces.
CHRISTOPHER
BURKETT (American, born 1951)
For over 30 years, Christopher Burkett has used the landscape to explore
the sacred in nature. Through his strikingly colorful and detailed photographic
images, he beckons the viewer to feel the light and power inherent in
the tapestry of creation. Mr. Burkett has become recognized internationally
as an expert in the arduous Ilfochrome printing method. He meticulously
hand-prints his large format transparencies with phenomenal sharpness
and rich tonality, which he achieves through sophisticated masking techniques.
His images are never digitally altered or reproduced. Christopher Burkett's
stunning photographs rapidly reached an international audience in the
1990s through a series of one-man exhibitions. Today he is represented
by a multitude of top galleries and his works are included in many important
private and corporate collections. His photographs are featured in the
books, Robert Frost: Seasons (Henry Holt & Co., 1992), Intimations
of Paradise (West Wind Arts, 1999), and Resplendent Light (West Wind
Arts, 2004). He currently lives with his wife, Ruth, in Oregon.
